This route is a development direction for reasonable separation and use of high sulfur steam coal. Comparison with the technical economic of single flue gas desulfurization and to replace coal by gas in Chongqing main district, to develop clean coal technologies for decreasing SO 2 emission is a effective method depend upon the current situation of economic and technique in Chongqing. A policy support is needed for the cleaning coal products.

The characteristic of raw coal and presence regularity of various pattern sulfurs in the anthracite of Zhangcun coal mine are studied. The possibility of desulfurization by physical cleaning methods can be predicted. Summary is that the raw coal of Zhangcun coal mine should be cleaned in order to reduce the ash and sulfur contents of products. Optimum product combination are also pointed out. A new coal preparation plant has been built in Zhangcun coal mine based on above study. After the plant goes into operation, the coal products sold much quickly and to gain much better economic benefit. It proves that steam coal should be cleaned for to meet market demand.

The circular centrifugal flotation cell which is developed by Clean Coal Technology Institute of Heilongjiang Mining Institute is a new type and equipment for fine coal benefaction. The circular centrifugal flotation cell has many originalities on the pulp aeration, air bubble mineralization, air pulp flow format in the ring shaped tank of the cell, feed method ect, due to the results of fluidics and turbulence and the action of centrifugal and gravitational force ect. By eliminating the recirculation and the froth paddle skimmers in the routine cell, the structure is simplified, the power is reduced, the maintenance is lightened, to realize easy operation, wider sized fraction, and easy automatic control. The laboratory exploration and the commercial tests show that expected separating index are controlled under the suitable condition, such as the combustible material recovery for the bituminous is about 90%, the capacity range from 2.8-3.0 t dry coal/h.m3. In additional, it is suitable application for any scale coal plant application through varying relevant parts.

The separator choice method in circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler design is discussed based on material balance theory. According to the test of several CFB boiler with different separators, the author believed that the performance of separator is one of the key factor which influence the combustion efficiency, but it is not the only one. The development history of CFB combustion technology made the author sure that the CFB with cooled separator type is a development direction in China. The development of 75 t/h CFB boiler with low cost water cooled square separator and its excellent function gave evidences for scaling up design. Now it is supported by The State Departments, the design of 130 t/h and 220 t/h CFB boiler of this type had been finished and the 240 t/h is designing.

The purpose of CCHS is to reduce the SO 2 and dust emission and satisfy the EPS claim. The demonstration experiment of a 5t/h industrial boiler confirmed that burning high sulfur coal can reduce significantly environmental pollution and can obtain obviously economic benefit for users and coal mines.

Electrolysis desulfurization of Guizhou Liuzhi high sulfur coal is studied in water-methanol, water-ethanol, water-acetone and water-ethylene diamine mixtures using NaOH, HCl, H 2SO 4 and so on as supporting electrolytes. The experimental results indicated that the removal of sulfur from coal is depend on the solvent and electrolyte used and the H 2O-CH 3OH-HCl system is the best one for desulfurization in all kinds of electrolytic system. The removal rate of total sulfur may reach 56% when the electrolysis period is over 3 hours at 50℃in the system. In addition, pure hydrogen gas can be obtained from the cathode cell and its electrolytic current efficiency is about 95%.
